For VanOmme&deGroot we (KuiperCompagnons) designed an urban plan for that was part of the rewarded integral offer for the redevelopment of a part of Heijplaat. Heijplaat is a historical village enclosed by the harbors of Rotterdam. In this dynamic context this village is like a hidden oase. In our design we strengthened these characteristics by making a robust houses along the embankment of the harbor bassin and modern garden village houses around green public space inside the new neighborhood. These spatial qualities combined with the desired level of energy efficiency by the city of Rotterdam will after completion, result in 170 new zero-energy houses.
