The rich history of creating social houses in the Netherlands got interest from the city of Taipei. In 2012 the city of Taipei subsidized an international exchange and collaboration project for one of the few social housing communities in the city: An-Kang. Collectively with local universities and Taiwanese architectural firms we (@KuiperCompagnons) worked on a design for replacing the aged public housing in the community. In our proposal we focussed on creating living quality by proposing a rich mixture of dwelling size. Making sure that te rebuild neighborhood would be multi social. Also the architectural differentiation in building heights and creating space for public amenities at street level would lead to active streets and a vibrant new neighborhood.
